Quest 3 getting slower and slower to respond, load, run

Quest 3 getting slower and slower to respond, load, run (1)

New to vr and my quest3 headset since last week, maybe I’m misunderstanding something?

Almost each time since the first time I used it,, it seems to be more glitchy and slower to respond. Then it might act fine and be worse next time. It often looks like nothing happens other than a click when I try to open a game in the library. Then when I give up and go look through the settings and tutorials, 15sec later, all goes black and it’s loading one of the game icons I tried clicking before (national geo explore last time). Then it goes black often, like it is slowly loading each scene. When I pause the game to finish exploring settings, the game will jump back in randomly. Then a few minutes later, my homescreen immersive setting finally appears (the first tme in 2 days). What’s going on? It acts pile it’s finally paying attention from a while back 🤣. I tried uninstall and reinstall for several games. Also the games often but not always start with everything about 6 ft above me and the controllers find that hard to select.

Do I need higher wifi speeds? anyone else experience this?

Thanks for any insight. I have only managed to play a few minutes into a game before batteries out from this faffing about and often it was slow and jumpy. Supernatural works great when it opens (except the menus sometimes being super high up)

Any help would be appreciated!

Hey there, @bacontricks.2024! Being able to smoothly transition between applications is ideal and with a delay is not something we want to hear. We can look into this situation together and so that we have some more information help us investigate further please provide the details below:

  • Is this noticeable right away or take some time before the delays and black screen appear?
  • With the delay in response ensure there are no other applications open in the background.
  • Does this delay occur with all the applications or specific ones?
  • If the battery on controllers are low allow them to fully charge before attempting again?
  • Has the headset been rebooted using the steps here?

This information can help narrow down the possible causes, and we look forward to hearing back!

Wednesday - last edited Wednesday

Hi! Thanks for coming to help!

- Always charged

- The delay can be from the beginning (the library), as well as appearing soon after. In the beginning the delay was in rendering where my hands appeared to be and recognizing click and grab-the-edge-of-the-screen gestures. That has improved to where it’s recognizing it more often than not, sometimes it works great. It has forgotten the “tap controllers together twice” to switch to hands though.

- does shutting down the headset quit everything or do I have to quitr manually?

- likewise, does taking off the headset but not shutting it down leave things running? I have not allowed it to run out of battery power and shut itself down.

- does the headset need good wifi to run well? I have cable service, but it can take between 45sec and several minutes to get each GB of a new game (or when I’m reinstalling).

- the headset usually shuts down and reboots itself as I’m holding the off switch, or powers down by itself and the meta symbol then comes back and then it shows me the battery status (I assumed this meant it was off?), I’ll try to see if I can click restart before the menu goes away!

Wednesday

Thanks for getting back to us with this information. It would vary depending on whether the application closes when the headset is asleep, since some may remain open. Powering down the headset completely should close any open applications that were open. On the headset, we would also like to check that there is storage available for any updates and that it does not affect performance. For the controller tracking, ensure that you are in a well-lit room, and we recommend going through the troubleshooting steps below.

  • Ensure your area is well lit, with enough light to see clearly, but no direct sunlight
  • Ensure your area is free of small lights such as Christmas lights, or LED strips
  • Ensure your area is free of reflective surfaces such as mirrors, glass, or polished marble
  • Ensure the tracking cameras are clean
  • Ensure your environment is free of any obstructions between the tracking cameras and the controllers
  • Remove unsupported third-party accessories that may affect tracking or controller detection. For example, controller and headset covers, controller attachments, etc.
  • Remove the battery from the controller for 30 seconds
  • Try replacing the battery with a new one
  • Unpair and pair the controller to the headset

Should it persist so that we can investigate the delay issue further. Is the headset being used for PCVR or standalone? If using PCVR, is the headset connected with Air Link or Cable Link?. We appreciate your time, and look forward to hearing back.
