Peacemaker Season 2 Cast Guide: Every New & Returning Character (2024)

The Peacemaker season 2 cast features new and returning actors as the series prepares to join the DCU. Peacemaker season 1 debuted in January 2022, less than a year before the DCU was announced and threw the canonicity of various DCEU characters and stories into question. John Cena's Peacemaker was among those DCEU stars that survived the reboot, meaning his new series will continue his story with certain story elements carried straight over from the first season.

He will be joined by most of the original cast from Peacemaker season 1, while a number of newbies are already announced to be joining. Season 2 will act as a soft reboot of season 1 similarly to how The Suicide Squad was a soft reboot of Suicide Squad, picking up where it left off with the titular hero at loggerheads with Amanda Waller and her unscrupulous methods. Story details are yet to emerge, but James Gunn, who is directing three of the episodes, has already confirmed certain cast members.

John Cena As Christopher Smith/Peacemaker

Actor: John Cena was born in West Newbury, Massachusetts, and began making waves as a professional wrestler several years before taking a leap into Hollywood with a starring role in 2006's The Marine, which was funded by the WWE. Cena remained a prominent wrestler, becoming the WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion before a role as Steven in 2015's Trainwreck would snowball into more comedy roles. This talent for comedy combined with his stature culminated in him embodying the role of Peacemaker in 2021's The Suicide Squad.

Character: Peacemaker is the titular antihero of Peacemaker season 2. While he has no superpowers, he is still a force to be reckoned with. With a physicality similar to Batman's, though he lacks the same resources, he instead relies on his skills as a combatant, his signature pistol, and a litany of Peacemaker helmets to deliver extreme justice. He was last seen being haunted by visions of his dead father, which may provide a significant problem in season 2.

Danielle Brooks As Leota Adebayo

Actor: Danielle Brooks was born in Augusta, Georgia, and broke big in Orange is the New Black in 2013 for her role as Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson. Brooks would go on to make waves on Broadway for her role as Sofia in a musical version of The Color Purple, a role she would reprise in 2023 for the big screen and earn nominations for an Oscar and a Golden Globe. She has also tried her hand at hosting on the Netflix reality series Instant Dream Home.

Character: Brooks portrays Leota Adebayo in Peacemaker, the rebellious daughter of Amanda Waller and recently declared "best friend" of the eponymous hero. Adebayo was integral in exposing her mother's clandestine operations at the end of Peacemaker season 1. Her moral compass puts her at odds with the shady outfit with which she is involved, though that and her loyalty make her a valuable friend.

Freddie Stroma As Adrian Chase/Vigilante

Actor: Freddie Stroma was born in London, England, and scored his first big role as Cormac McLaggen in the Harry Potter movie franchise. While Stroma's first Hollywood role was relatively minor, it would lead to being featured in some of the past decade's biggest TV shows, including Game of Thrones and Bridgerton. Though he cut his teeth on British television, his roles now span both sides of the Atlantic, with Vigilante being one of his biggest.

Character: Vigilante is the overzealous and sad*stic sidekick of Peacemaker whose violent methods rival his idol's. Nevertheless, Vigilante is eager to aid others, reserving his brutality for those villains he deems deserving. He exhibits a similar skill set to Peacemaker, with both being practiced martial artists and marksmen.

Jennifer Holland As Emilia Harcourt

Actor: Jennifer Holland was born in Chicago, Illinois and scored relatively minor roles throughout her acting career before earning a big break as Emilia Harcourt in 2021's The Suicide Squad. This is a role that Holland has reprised in several DCEU (and soon-to-be DCU) productions, though she also featured in the MCU as Administrator Kwol in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Holland is the spouse of DC Studios Co-CEO and Peacemaker creator, James Gunn.

Character: Emilia Harcourt is a prolific government agent with a hand in many operations, including A.R.G.U.S. and its oversight of Task Force X. Despite her willingness to rebel against Waller, Harcourt was re-recruited to help imprison Black Adam and recruit Billy Batson to the Justice Society - though this facet of her history will likely be retconned in the DCU. Harcourt displays a no-nonsense and often bristly personality when carrying out missions with teammates.

Steve Agee As John Economos

Actor: Steve Agee was born in Riverside, California and found his footing in comedy, making a name for himself as Steve Myron in The Sarah Silverman Program. Agee is a stand-up comedian and musician in addition to being an actor, which is likely why his roles tend to be in comedies. Agee worked with James Gunn on several projects, including 2010's Super, where he starred as a "Comic Book Store Jerk," and in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Character: Economos is another recurring DCU character with deep ties to A.R.G.U.S., working alongside Harcourt and the pawns of Task Force X before rebelling against Waller's wishes. Like many, his initial rivalry with Peacemaker has given way to a flourishing friendship in the wake of Peacemaker season 1. Economos' expertise lies in the technical side of operations, demonstrating particular skill in hacking and computing, leading him to be the figurative "man in the chair."

Frank Grillo As Rick Flag Sr.

Actor: Frank Grillo was born in New York City and made a name for himself as an action star in Warrior. Grillo is notable for his athleticism, having taken on various forms of martial arts throughout his life, which has helped him land several roles in action-packed movies like the Purge franchise, The Grey, and a starring role in Hulu's Boss Level. Grillo is also a past master of the superhero genre, with his most famous role being Brock Rumlowe, AKA Crossbones, in the MCU.

Character: Rick Flag Sr. is the father of Rick Flag Jr., who appeared as the team leader in both Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad before he was killed by Peacemaker in the latter. This will no doubt put Rick Flag Sr. at odds with Cena's character in Peacemaker season 2. Rick Flag Sr. will appear in animated form in 2024's Creature Commandos, making him the first DCU actor to bridge the gap between animation and live-action.

Sol Rodríguez As Sasha Bordeaux

Actor: Sol Rodríguez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and broke big in the musical Nickelodeon Latin America series Grachi, where she portrayed Mecha for 205 episodes. Rodríguez is an actress, singer, and dancer who has released several singles from the soundtrack of her breakout show. After starring in several Latin American shows and movies since then, Rodríguez has broken into the American market with roles in such shows as Party of Five and Star Trek: Picard.

Character: Sasha Bordeaux is most often associated with Batman, having been Bruce Wayne's bodyguard for a spell, making her involvement in Peacemaker intriguing. Bordeuax eventually becomes a leader (AKA Black Queen) of Checkmate, which is another government organization designed to carry out clandestine operations established by Amanda Waller. This gives a big clue as to why Bordeaux is on board in season 2, suggesting Waller will be moving swiftly on from the exposure of Task Force X, while also providing an exciting possible link to the DCU's Batman, who is currently presumed to debut in The Brave and the Bold.

David Denman In An Undisclosed Role

Actor: David Denman was born in Southern California and got his big break in The Office as Roy Anderson, Pam Beesly's ex-fiancé. Denman has a wide-spanning history of acting in both TV and movies, but the award-winning The Office was where his career started to take off in earnest. Like many Peacemaker cast members, Denman has a history of working with James Gunn beginning with his starring role as Kyle in Brightburn.

Character: David Denman's role has yet to be disclosed for Peacemaker season 2.

John Cena stars as Christopher Smith, AKA the titular Peacemaker in James Gunn's spin-off/sequel TV series to The Suicide Squad.
