Classic Mode[]
Description[]
Touch to jump, touch twice to jump higher.
Classic Mode is the original mode of Nyan Cat: Lost in Space. It features Nyan Cat jumping on platforms and various obstacles, including Bombs, UFOs, UFO Attacks, dogs, and Tac Nayn running around. There are 8 different types of platforms consisting of sausage platforms, (no effects) crumbling cake platforms, (crumble after you step on them) gold platforms, (which give you a 100x point multiplier), slippery cake platforms. (You will slip on these and be unable to jump while sliding on them), treadmill platforms (can make you go faster), icicle platforms (same purpose as treadmill platforms except you cannot jump off of them), honey platforms (You will go slower), and spikey platforms (can damage you, even if invulnerable).
Universe Mode[]
Description[]
Touch to jump, collect Rainbow Batteries.
In the Universe gamemode, it is much like Classic, but there are no bombs. Instead, collect Rainbow Batteries within the time limit in the bottom left corner of your screen to fill your battery meter at the center of the bottom of the screen. The time limit decreases for each universe, starting at 85.0 seconds in the first universe. If the time runs out, using the Save Me! button will make you become Supernyan, and the time remaining will be set to 25.0 seconds.
Nyan Wings Mode[]
Desciption[]
Touch to gain speed when moving downhill.
The gamemode of Nyan Wings is a completely different mode from the others, with different obstacles and a different objective. Nyan Cat escapes from Tac Nayn's cage and flees from planet to planet to avoid being captured. To fly with Rainbow Trails, do amazing slides to get three curved arrows in the bottom left corner of your screen. Tac nayn also tries to shoot you with an energy ball.
This mode was formerly known as Flight School.
Zen Mode[]
Desciption[]
Touch to jump, no bombs here.
Zen Mode is an easier version of Nyan Cat: Lost in Space because it doesn't have any bombs and more platforms. It still has all the other obstacles.
Tac Nayn Mode[]
Description[]
Touch to jump, touch 2x to jump higher.
In this mode, you play as Tac Nayn with the same obstacles as Classic Mode, except for Tac Nayns running around. The powerups (such as Supernyan) are changed to Darth Nayn. You cannot use skins in this mode.
Power-ups[]
Rocketnyan - Powerup[]
Rocketnyan puts the cat in a miniature rocket ship, allowing flight. The power-up can move the cat vertically upwards and downwards, corresponding to what position your finger is on the screen. The cat's horizontal position remains fixed on the screen, with your finger controlling how quickly the cat ascends and descends. The cat is immune to bombs while this power-up is active.
In Nayn Cat mode, its name changes to "Nayn Trek," and the rocket ship's fins are purple instead of red.
Supernyan - Powerup[]
Supernyan is similar to Rocketnyan, but unlike Rocketnyan, Supernyan gives the cat a cape and is immune to all threats. This power-up is also slightly slower than Rocketnyan.
In Tac Nayn mode, the power-up gets replaced by "Darth Nayn," which gives Tac Nayn a green cape and a mask similar to the popular Star Wars character Darth Vader.
Bubblenyan - Powerup[]
Bubblenyan puts the cat's head inside of a bubble. They can do unlimited jumps while the power-up is in effect, with each one producing bubble particles underneath their feet. The cat's jumps are also higher while this power-up is in effect.
Magnetnyan - Powerup[]
Magnetnyan attracts all items within the magnet's range that are a food type towards the cat, such as milk, donuts, cake, ice cream, ice cream bars, and licorice nearby. Cows are included as an item, too. It cannot attract coins, power-ups, gems, candy, letter cookies, or obstacles. This power-up also attracts Rainbow Batteries within its range in the Universe game mode. This power-up can help collect coins when combined with boosts that increase your chance of obtaining coins from food items.
Antinyan - Negative[]
Antinyan inflicts opposing effects compared to Magnetnyan. Antinyan repels foods and cows within its range. This negative power-up gives a disadvantage in Universe mode, as it also repels Rainbow Batteries within its range.
Ghost - Negative[]
Ghost obscures platforms from the player's view, rendering them partially/completely invisible over a fixed interval. While the platforms remain tangible, their visibility fades in and out.
Nyan Love - Powerup[]
Nyan Love gives the cat red hearts that circle them and turns the background into a pink tint. The cat automatically shoots hearts at onscreen obstacles such as bombs, Tac Nayn, UFOs, and dogs. When the heart comes in contact with the obstacle, it vanishes, and 1,000 points get added to the player's score.
In Tac Nayn mode, the red hearts change to T9 hearts, and the background turns monochrome. The T9 hearts appear to be rough, opaque grayish-white hearts with cracks.
Goldnyan - Powerup[]
Goldnyan changes all regular platforms into gold platforms. Gold platforms add 100 points multiplied by how many you have stepped on throughout the round to your score. So when you step on your 1st gold platform, you get 100 points. 2 platforms = 200 points, 3 platforms = 300 points, etc.
Turbonyan - Powerup[]
Turbonyan enlarges the rainbow the cat makes, making them speed up and enable further jumps. This power-up can help the cat jump farther across.
Doggienyan - Powerup[]
Doggienyan gives the cat a dog disguise made of cardboard. Both UFOs and Tac Nayn will flee when coming near them. Dogs, however, can still attack the cat.
Shadownyan - Negative[]
Shadownyan is similar to Ghost, except it affects the cat instead of the platforms. This power-up does not grant immunity to threats such as bombs, dogs, Tac Nayn, and UFOs.
Alonenyan - Negative[]
Alonenyan gives the cat a flashlight and makes the area around them dark. The flashlight makes things easier to see in the dark; however, it is still possible to see through the darkness. The flashlight always faces ahead and makes things visible at the front of the cat.
Adrenyalin - Powerup[]
Adrenyalin is similar to Turbonyan, except Adrenyalin turns the cat wide-eyed, and the background changes colors. The cat gets a speed boost, and reactions from the cat appear in the background while this power-up is in effect.
Kaleinyanescope - Neutral[]
Kaleinyanescope makes the game go in slow motion temporarily. The upside is that it gives the player more time to react to the game surroundings, but the screen turns monochrome, color tints flash, and the player has less time to keep the milk combo active. The timer in Universe mode slows down, however.
Pianyano - Powerup[]
Pianyano turns all platforms into piano platforms. Whenever the cat steps on one, it adds +2 to your score multiplier, and a random piano note sound plays.
Flower Fever - Powerup[]
Flower Fever plants a flower for every meter you travel on a platform, which adds +1 to your current score multiplier. The colors of each of the flowers can be red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, indigo, purple, pink, or white.
Coinyan - Powerup[]
Coinyan is similar to Magnetnyan, except that instead of attracting food items, coins are. This ability can only attract coins, making it less efficient for obtaining coins unlike Magnetnyan combined with boosts that increase your chance to acquire coins from food items.
Bignyan - Powerup[]
Bignyan makes the cat larger and invincible temporarily. Unlike most power-ups that make you invincible, touching any harmful objects destroys them, including bombs. Since this power-up extends the cat's hitbox, it is easier to collect items. Landing on the ground after each jump causes the screen to shake.
Multinyan - Powerup[]
Multinyan creates six mirrored copies of the cat across themselves vertically, each fading away the farther they are from the original cat, and can collect food, coins, candy, and Rainbow Batteries above and below them. These mirrored copies cannot collide with threats and pick up power-ups, gems, and letter cookies.
Nyan Glasses - Powerup[]
Nyan Glasses turns all food items into milk bottles, which add two to your current multiplier instead of one. It does not affect power-ups, coins, Rainbow Batteries, gems, or cows.
Disco Tour - Neutral[]
Disco Tour turns all platforms into rainbow platforms that go through the entire color spectrum of the rainbow. This power-up can be helpful because every platform except treadmill platforms behaves as regular platforms. However, this power-up also affects positive ones like gold and gum platforms.
Gem Gun - Neutral[]
Gem Gun is similar to Nyan Love, as it shoots blue gem bullets and blue gems orbit the cat. The difference is that obstacles hit by one of the bullets transform into a random gem. This power-up also targets power-ups and letter cookies and turns them into gems. Because of this, it can be inconvenient when the player needs a power-up that could help them with something. Food items, Rainbow Batteries, candy, coins, and bombs are not targeted.
Zombie Attack - Power-up[]
Zombie Attack behaves similarly to Magnetnyan; the only difference is that the cat shoots rainbow beams at zombies possessing items to destroy them, collecting the items they have, such as food. Unlike Magnetnyan, this does not allow you to collect Rainbow Batteries in Universe mode.
Spring Legs - Power-up[]
Spring Legs are short metal springs that let the player’s cat bounce across platforms without jumping. The more times the cat bounces on the platforms, the faster the cat will travel. This grants immunity to spiked platforms, platforms with sliding effects, and bombs.
Ballooncat - Power-up[]
Ballooncat acts very similar to Supernyan and Rocketnyan. The only difference is that the cat is tied to a large orange balloon that helps them float across platforms. This power-up has a much slower horizontal speed and is more focused on vertical travel. This power-up (like the rest of the flying-attributed power-ups) is immune to bombs.
Fireworks - Neutral[]
This power-up darkens the screen while showing fireworks in the background. This (as far as research goes) does not affect gameplay whatsoever. Colors of the fireworks can include yellow, green, blue, pink, turquoise,
Cofffeeeee/Coffeeend - Neutral[]
Cofffeeeee makes the cat travel extremely fast, unable to be stopped. Following the excessive speed boost seconds later, the cat slows down suddenly to a sluggish pace, having bagged eyes. This power-up can be very reckless, having a high chance of leading to colliding with threats.
Sugar - Power-up[]
Sugar turns all milk items into sugar cubes. These sugar cubes boost the cat's running speed upon being eaten. A counter is displayed showing how fast your boost is currently.
Batnyan - Power-up[]
Batnyan turns the cat into Nyan Cat with an outfit resembling DC Comic's Batman. Double jumping results in him soaring across the sky, with his height depending on when you inputted the double jump. The cat cannot input anything or cancel the soaring ability until he lands.
Strangely, using the power-up in Tac Nayn mode also turns Tac Nayn into Nyan Cat. This is most likely due to oversight.
Champagne - Neutral[]
Champagne puts the cat on top of a giant fizzing champagne bottle. Unlike most power-ups that provide flight, movement on the champagne bottle is always random and uncontrollable to the player, which results in unpredictable motion. This power-up is immune to all threats while it's active.
Magic Box - Neutral[]
Magic Box selects a random power-up. The outcome of the choice of the power-up is uncontrollable and entirely luck-based.
iMessage stickers (iOS exclusive)[]
The game also has stickers for Apple's instant message service iMessage when downloading the game on iOS.
