Prologue[]

In the year 447, the war between the Dark Lords’ armies and the Six Heroes was ending. The Dark Lord in question is the Undead King Leonis Death Magnus, who watches from afar in his fortress the Death Hold, as his captial Necrozoa was overrun by humans, demi-humans, and spirits. The Six Heroes had already destroyed Leonis’s other fortresses, so Necrozoa was all that was left. As he watches the Six Heroes tear through his army of skeleton soldiers, he remarks that the wisest of them, the Archsage Arakael, had chosen to submit to the gods, to his annoyance, and he decides to enter the battle.

Just as he prepares to set off, his longtime friend and prince of the Realm of Shadows, Blackas Shadow Prince, reminds him that he is the last remaining Dark Lord, and he does not wish to see him fall in battle. Leonis remembers how the Goddess of Rebellion bestowed a mission onto him, which is to find her vessel and reform the Dark Lords’ armies, and in one thousand years from now, that vessel will appear in the form of a human child, and it is in this form that he will complete this mission. As such, Leonis agrees to accept defeat, but he states that he will be reborn and reclaim his power.

In the end, Leonis sealed away his soul in the depths of the Grand Mausoleum.

Chapter 1: The Undead King Awakens[]

A thousand years pass and in the present day, it was known that ancient ruins were explored, but Holy Swordsman candidates from Excalibur Academy would explore the deeper parts of the ruins where regular military communication terminals were useless. One of those candidates currently exploring was a noblewoman named Riselia Ray Crystelia, who descends from nobles that supervised the Assault Garden. Accompanying her is her personal maid Regina Mercedes, who asks Reselia if they can turn back now, but she chooses to keep pushing forward, especially after hearing about a nest built deep in the ruins.

The reason why the two were investigating this set of ruins was because it just recently appeared in a wasteland, and if left unchecked, these ruins become hives for Voids, which are said to be otherworldy creatures. Not much about the Voids is known by mankind apart from that they assume the forms of mythical creatures, but they have already wiped out three quarters of mankind in pursuit of their mysterious objective. The two end up finding a large door with some ancient writing on it, and Riselia realizes that this door is somewhat akin to an ancient magical apparatus and is still functioning. Regina goes to stand watch for any Voids while Reselia works to decipher the ancient text.

To Reselia’s surprise, the moment she touched the inscription, the door opened, and within it was a black crystal releasing an incalculable mana reaction. When she approaches the crystal, she sees a human figure in it, and immediately she tries to break the crystal to free the person inside. Little did she know that the person was Leonis, who used a special technique to suspend his soul and utilize the crystal to reincarnate his form. Disturbed by the sounds of Reselia’s gun trying to break the crystal, he uses magic to listen to Reselia. Thinking she is a grave robber, Leonis emerges from the crystal, the shock wave knocking Reselia down.

The minute Leonis lays eyes on Reselia, however, he is left breathless by her beauty, and upon inspection of her outfit, he realizes she isn’t a grave robber. Reselia looks at him and is left speechless, but just as Leonis is about to say something, Reselia beats him to the punch and asks what a kid is doing here. Confused, Leonis looks at his hands and is horrified to see that he is in the body of a ten-year old. It turns out the method Leonis used to reincarnate involved him returning his body to a past state and restructuring it, but he didn’t expect to look this young, and so similar to how he looked when he was known as the “Hero” Leonis, making him think the process failed.

Reselia faces Leonis and asks him if the Voids captured him and imprisoned him in the crystal. Leonis is unfamiliar with that word, but Reselia believes he has temporary amnesia. Immediately she hugs him, claiming that she’ll protect him as his “big sister.” At first he tries to resist, but when he feels her breasts, his long-forgotten emotions from when he was once human overwhelm him. He suddenly then passes out.

It turns out Leonis fainted due to hunger, and Reselia gave him some hard biscuits to regain his strength. He realizes that he never prepared any food or water for his reincarnation due to not knowing he would be reincarnated as a human, and therefore, Reselia saved his life. As for Reselia, she contacts Regina to tell her about Leonis and she decides to cross-reference the refugee list to see who he is. Reselia introduces herself to Leonis and Leonis introduces himself as just “Leonis Magnus,” which Reselia says is an incredibly cute name, which annoys Leonis because it means his name hasn’t been passed down through the history books if she didn’t recognize it.

Reselia asks Leonis if he remembers what the Void that took him looked like, but Leonis doesn’t recognize the word. Assuming it is due to amnesia, Reselia explains what Voids are and that she came to investigate a potential hive that has formed, while Leonis is surprised that such a threat is now terrorizing mankind. He realizes that Reselia found him by complete coincidence, and he asks what the year is, but she says it is the 64th year of the Integrated Human Calendar, which confuses him even more. Just then, Regina contacts Reselia to warn her about a large Void. She starts fighting it which both Leonis and Reselia can feel, and Reselia declares that she’ll keep Leonis safe. She pulls out her Artificial Relic “Ray Hawk,” which seems to take the shape of a large cannon just as the Void barges into the area. Reselia calls it an “Ogre” though when Leonis sees it for himself, he is shocked to see it looks nothing like the ogres he was familiar with.

Reselia opens fire but her shots have no effect, and just as Leonis prepares to cast a spell for protection, Regina comes in attacking the Ogre from behind. Using her Holy Sword “Drag Howl,” Regina unleashes a powerful shot, but the Ogre endures it. Regine tells Reselia and Leonis to flee while she continues fighting the beast, and the two do so. They try to make their way to the surface, but they are attacked by another Void that is part of the “Wyvern Class.” Reselia starts shooting at it and tells Leonis to keep heading for the surface. Leonis, however, decides to fight the creature himself, but just as he starts chanting, the Void charges for him, and Reselia pushes him out of the way only to be critically wounded. She weakly tells Leonis to regroup with Regina as more Void appear. Leonis was moved by Reselia’s sacrifice as it reminded him of the Goddess of Rebellion, and though he is using her as a source of information, his respect for her nobility motivated him to protect her. He summons forth his weapon, the Staff of Sealed Sins, and uses it to destroy all of the Voids. After that, he takes Reselia to revive her using his sorcery.
