8 hour train ride to Kuala Lampur and beyond?
Or holiday in Cambodia.
Hoping it's not too much of a horrific schlep. We're rooting for you.

My bro was just in Thailand and after lots of flight searching (flights are booked up from most airports in the region) his only path out was:
- Bus from Bangkok to Siem Riep, Cambodia.
- 2-day unplanned visit... ("Holiday in Cambodia", nice... )
- Bus from Siem Riep to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City
- Flight from HCMC to Tokyo, to LA, to SF
He'll finally be home tomorrow after an unplanned trip extension by a whole week.
And sorry to hear about the break-up man.

thanks guys!!
Well the madness is over, the prime minister was forced to step down so the airport will be up and running soon. If it's still not open I have to drive two hours to Bangkok to check in, then take a bus three hours to another airport. Yaaaaa!
It's all good with the lady, were still friends. I have plenty of things to keep me busy.....
On another happy note I have been with out water for three days now as my pump is broken. I had to shower in the bar last night....
And on an even happier note I managed to cut the shot out of my finger last night.was drunk as a skunk and decided to make French toast...while slicing thru the bread I managed to cut thru my nail and spray blood everywhere.
With the way things ate going I might just stay off the bike for a few days....wait,what did I just say? f*ck that!!!

From the news I've read the BK airport is open for incoming flights but outbound flights are supposed to be offline for 2 more weeks while they clean up the massive cookng/living mess the protesting masses left behind.
Always a plus when you can keep friendship intact with the ex. Given the alternative of going postal.
Showering at the bar. Hopefully you were not unduly bothered by sight of gogo dancers prancing thru the shower with you.
Yummy, french toast with special red sauce and a dash of mystery meat.
Never a dull moment in the world of fricked up adventures part deux.
Keep up the good work.

U-Tapao is a possible option but it's a small airport trying to accommodate way too much traffic. I've read some reports it's a major zoo.
BKK airport (Suvarnabhumi) is in the process of reopening. Cleaning up the mess left behind by the protesters. It should be back to full operation within 1-2 weeks. Stay tuned to the news. Your flight in 3 weeks should (pray) be just fine.

just got back from australia, have to say i didn't enjoy it. went to brisbane to get a one year business visa for thailand and check out the town. got the visa done early on the morning of the first day so decided to drop by the hotel then tool around. the people at the hotel were rude and dumb. they didn' even want to let me leave my bag there as i was not checked in yet
so i walked around for a few hours and didn't really find anything interesting to do so i headed back to the hotel for lunch. they claimed to have the "best steaks in the world, right here". for 26 aud i got a huge 400g steak that kicked ass...the best part of aus.
so being 1pm i figured it was time to hit the bars....more asshats...all asshats. three bars, and a sh*tload of asshats later i made m way back to the hotel and changed my ticket to leave that night. no point staying somewhere lame for three days.
spent more time flying back and fourth then i did there.
now back in thailand, awaiting tommys arrival tomorrow and robbies on the 30th.
pics later, food just showed up....mmmmm foooodddddd

I haven't been to Australia, but it strikes me rather odd making a call about a place based solely on its hotels, food, and bars.

Weird, from both my trips overseas I've always found Aussies to be the coolest people to meet. Always friendly and just want to have fun.

so four thieves ( thai men ages 16,18,20,22) decide to steal our race bikes. they went to the back gate of the track and used some big bolt cutters to remove the lock. they then proceeded to use the bolt cutters to hit one of the track security guards in the head a few times before they tied him up in his hammock, using the battery tender cables from our pits. the security guard( age 51) died of blunt force trauma to the head, the youngest one hit him while he was sleeping...
they then proceeded to steal a 2004 zx10r with bst carbon wheels, a 2007 gsxr 1000 with bst carbon wheels...star blade carbon discs...traction control... afr tuner and a 210hp engine and a stock 2001 gsxr 750 track bike. they loaded one bike on to a truck and rode the 10r (with gp style open exhaust) and the gsxr1000 40 miles away....at night ...with no lights... and parked them in a garage.
now the track owner is a very prominent thai business man and that means lots of attention from the police, we had the head of the police force,#2,#3 and so on cops and the word spread quickly. they tried to sell all three bikes for one million baht which is about half price. again, word spread quickly and undercover officers set up a sting and nailed the f*ckers.
now all these mother f*ckers have to rot in jail for LIFE...
i cant believe they killed the security guard, he would not have put up a fight. he was a cool guy, always smiling, showing his missing front tooth or talking to me in thai when he knows i speak very little. he loved just hanging out by our pit door and watching us work on bikes. as i didn't know his real name i just called him "smiling joe" as he was always smiling.
in the process of 26 hours they stole the bikes and were cought, way to get something done thai p.d.
they stole the first three bikes they could.... now most of the time my bike is the first one in line but it got moved to the back for a few days while we were playing "motorcycle musical chairs"

Holy s**t!
Khun.
And too bad that the law enforcement isn't on the ball over here when it comes to recovery of stolen bikes.

Glad the bikes and parts were recovered.
Sux that the scumbags killed a sleeping security guard in the process.

they all received mandatory life sentences
f'ing thieves one of the things they do here is make the criminals reenact the crime. as they were doing this one of the security guards family members jumped out of the crowd and landed a nice right hook to the guys face
