7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (2024)

Guild Wars 2 has never been short on achievements to farm for and cool titles to unlock. So much so that the number of options can become overwhelming. The same goes for the differences between the achievements. While many you will complete easily and often without even trying, some require huge time investment, immense skill, or thousands of gold to finish.

Varying from mode-specific titles to collections that require a massive amount of grinding, these are the hardest Guild Wars 2 achievements to obtain. We've also included statistics from gw2efficiency, so you can see just how rare each one is. It's worth noting that this website doesn't gather data from all Guild Wars 2 players but only from 385,000 registered accounts which usually belong to serious crafters and endgame content gamers.

7 Giant Slayer

7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (1)

An estimated 0.4 percent of players have this achievement.

The instructions to get this achievement are very clear and straightforward. You simply need to kill one thousand giants on one account. It seems easy enough at the first glance, but it is still tedious and takes a long time.

Fighting the giants is not the main problem, finding them is. They spawn in Central Tyria during select events as bosses. However, if you have the Path of Fire expansion, they are more easily farmable in the Crystal Desert maps. They also spawn as hostile NPCs on specific spots of The Desolation and the Desert Highlands.

6 Abyssal Fractal Master

7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (2)

An estimated 0.28 percent of players have this achievement.

For this achievement, you need to collect all nineteen Abyssal Fractal weapon skins, including those for aquatic weapons. They are similar to some previous fractal skins but are dark purple. The skins cannot be traded with other players and the only repeatable way to acquire them is from a vendor.

The biggest obstacle is that one of the currencies required is Unstable Fractal Essence, both a currency and a valuable kill proof. You get 40 UFE per fractal challenge mode boss kill, and this skin collection requires 9,120 UFE in total. Therefore, very few players have this achievement, as most would rather save up the kill proof.

5 Legendary Armorer

7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (3)

An estimated 2.4 percent of players have this achievement.

Similar to the previous achievement, this is not a one-time deal but a collection. To finish it, you need to bind 18 unique legendary armor pieces. That means a full set for each armor weight, and they cannot be bought from other players. Each set costs above 1,500 gold to craft. The achievement also excludes the WvW and PvP legendary sets.

To finish this collection, playing raids cannot be avoided. Some of the essential crafting components are Legendary Insights, of which you need 750 (150 for your first set and 300 for the next two). Every raid boss and strike challenge mode drops one LI but only once per week. So, you can acquire only 31 Insights per week. That makes up for an absolute minimum of 29 weeks of intense raiding. Considering the difficulty of some encounters, most raiders almost never reach the weekly LI limit anyway. Upon completion of the entire collection, you also gain the title “Envoy’s Herald.”

4 Voidwalker

7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (4)

An estimated 0.35 percent of all Guild Wars 2 players have this achievement.

For this infamous achievement, you need to complete the Harvest Temple Strike Mission in challenge mode, without allowing the enemy to gain more than three stacks of the Void Empowerment buff. Although keeping these stacks low is basically the only way to finish the encounter anyway.

Currently, the title that comes with this achievement - The Voidwalker - is the most prestigious title and kill proof a player of PvE instanced content can have. It’s because this is by far the most difficult encounter in the game and very few have beaten it.

3 God Of WvW

7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (5)

An estimated 0.14 percent of players have this achievement.

As the name of the achievement indicates, you need to play a lot of World Vs World to have the title of the same name. You can purchase this title for free if you have gained a rank of 10,000 or higher in the game mode, which is no easy feat.

You individually do not have to be necessarily great at WvW. However, you need to play a lot of hours as experience points are what is required. How long this achievement will take you is entirely up to your playtime but keep in mind that you need around 50 million experience points. To estimate, it would take around 5,000 hours for a hardcore player and around 10,000 hours for a casual WvW player to complete this achievement.

2 God Of The Arena

7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (6)

An estimated 0.0002 percent of all Guild Wars 2 accounts have this achievement.

Even though the constructed PvP game mode also has ranks, to get this achievement, you need to be very active in PvP over an entire season. Additionally, you must be very skilled as you'll also need to win a large number of matches to boost your skill rating.

At the end of every season of ranked PvP, the first player on the skill-rating leaderboard receives this title. Skill points are obtained mostly for wins and inactivity is punished. It makes the run for this title very competitive and the limit makes it very exclusive. There have only been 36 seasons where the achievement is applicable. Additionally, if the title is put on a female character, it changes to Goddess of the Arena.

1 The Legendary Facets of Aurene

7 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Guild Wars 2 (7)

The most often finished sub-category has been completed by 0.009 percent of players. Data on how many have finished all facets are unavailable at the moment.

At the end of this list, we have by far the most difficult category of achievements to progress in. In short, you must unlock all six Elder Dragon skin types for all the sixteen terrestrial legendary weapons. That is 96 legendary skins in total.

The first step is to craft or buy all sixteen Aurene-based weapons and bind them, making them unsellable. Then, many other varying steps involving events, crafting, and currency farming need to be followed to unlock as little as one other Elder Dragon skin for one weapon. To be among the couple of players who have finished all facets, e.g. all dragon variants, you need to do this process 80 more times, sixteen times per Elder Dragon. That is, unless Soo-Won gets her skin variants one day, too. It is entirely up to you in what order you unlock the weapons and skins.

Of course, there are five dragon facets and each one requires something different. Fear not though, you get a very rare title for every set of variants you finish. For example, when you finish Zhaitan's set, e.g. unlock all sixteen Zhaitan-inspired skins for Aurene's legendary weapons, you receive “The Facet of Shadow and Death” title. The current newest set is inspired by Primordus and rewards the title "The Facet of Fire and Destruction" upon completion.
